The Woman They Forgot

BEYOND THE PAGE

Emily Hart's life is wonderfully ordinary.

She has a husband she adores, two children who are the center of her world, and the quiet comfort of everyday rituals: morning coffee, bedtime stories, dancing barefoot in the kitchen.

Exhausted by years of putting everyone else first, she agrees to attend a single Yoga Nidra class at an old studio called The Quiet Place.

When she returns home that night...

Her key no longer fits the lock.

Her husband doesn't know her.

Her children cry for their mother while staring at her like she's a stranger.

The family photographs still line the hallway, but another woman has taken Emily's place in every single one.

As Emily desperately searches for proof that she ever existed, reality begins unraveling around her. Records vanish. Memories change. Time slips away. And a mysterious little girl in a white dress appears with a chilling warning:

"You have to wake up before she takes your place."

Somewhere between memory and oblivion lies a hidden world where forgotten lives are kept, and where Emily must uncover the truth before the last person who remembers her is gone forever.

Because the greatest horror isn't dying...

It's being forgotten.

Michelle Trites

Michelle Trites is the author of The Woman They Forgot, a psychological thriller that began in perhaps the least frightening place imaginable... a yoga class.

A longtime lover of yoga, Michelle appreciates the rare opportunity to slow down, breathe, and quiet her mind. The only problem? Her mind isn't particularly interested in being quiet. During one meditation, while everyone around her seemed to be peacefully turning off their thoughts, Michelle's brain went in an entirely different direction.

A question crept in: What if you opened your eyes and discovered the life you knew was no longer yours? What if the people you loved didn't remember you at all?

So much for meditation.

The idea followed her out of the yoga studio and refused to leave. One unsettling thought became another, characters began to take shape, and what started as an overactive mind during meditation eventually became *The Woman They Forgot*, her debut novel.

When she isn't dreaming up unsettling scenarios, Michelle's real life is considerably less sinister. She is a special education teacher, a mom to a wonderful little girl, and wife to a pretty great dude. Their family is rounded out by a cat and a dog, ensuring that life is rarely quiet, even when she'd like it to be.

Michelle loves stories that take something familiar and ordinary and twist it just enough to make you question everything. Her writing explores identity, memory, family, and the terrifying possibilities hiding beneath everyday life.

She lives in New England with her family, usually balancing teaching, motherhood, marriage, pets, reading, writing, and the occasional attempt at actually relaxing during yoga.

The Woman They Forgot is her debut novel, published through Nightglass Press.
